Zeal Church
Colorado Springs, CO
Zeal Church was founded during the pandemic in the fall of 2020, initially holding services at a local high school and soon after moving to a wedding venue. Weekly attendance had quickly swelled to 1,500 people at three Sunday services. Less than two years later, the church purchased a 100,000 SF Zeal1space in the Citadel Mall that was previously a Macy’s Department Store. BGW worked with the Church to transform 42,000 SF of the space into Zeal’s new church home. This large remodel project involved creating a 1,150-seat worship auditorium with a crescent moon stage and state-of-the-art audio, video and lighting system, as well as raising dropped ceilings, doctoring ductwork, stripping floors to concrete, removing and inserting walls and new paint. There’s also a café, meeting rooms and separate sections for children’s ministries — including a room for up to 15 children per service who have sensory issues such as hyperactivity, often related to autism and other conditions.
