PRINCIPAL ARCHITECT, PRESIDENT
Don Mahoney
Don has one of the most extensive backgrounds in worship and performing arts architecture in the U.S. He has designed prominent facilities all across the country throughout his 42 year career and has been recognized with a number of awards for innovative and creative church design, including multiple WFX Solomon Awards for Best Church Architect, Best Church Design, Best Special Project and Best Digital Church. Don is also a recipient of the Lutheran Church Extension Fund Arts & Architecture Award for Best Liturgical Design.
Don specializes in helping ministries to cast their vision during the very earliest stages of the project through creative master planning and preliminary design concepts. One of his passions and areas of expertise is performing arts design and he has led a number of marquee projects that involve high-level theatrical and performing arts components throughout his career. Don has always emphasized the importance of maintaining a solid design approach in all budget environments by taking advantage of the free tools of architecture such as scale, proportion, texture, color, and form. He earned his Master’s Degree in Architecture from the University of Utah in 1982 and formerly served as President of the American Institute of Architects for the State of Utah.

CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER / CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER
Mike McIntosh
Mike joined BGW in 2001 and is one of the longest tenured staff members. He oversees all daily business operations and finances for the company and provides leadership and oversight across all departments. A 12-year veteran of the United States Army, Mike studied business management and accounting at the University of Maryland and Weber State University. He has led 21 missions trips to Uganda and Mexico and has served as an overseer at his local church. Mike enjoys spending time with his wife Juli and their family, which includes 2 daughters, 1 son and 8 grandchildren. He enjoys camping, golfing and fishing.

CHIEF MARKETING & BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT OFFICER
Derek Johnson
Derek joined BGW in 2009. He directs the organization’s strategic marketing & business development efforts to expand our reach to the church and Christian school market and works closely with regional BGW construction partners. Prior to joining BGW, Derek worked in the sports marketing industry for 12 years, developing corporate sponsorships for minor league sports organizations across the country and leading the marketing team for the National Association of Professional Baseball Leagues. He earned a bachelors degree in Business Management from Palm Beach Atlantic University and a Masters Degree in Sports Management / Marketing from the University of Florida.
Derek has served on the deacon board of his church and enjoys spending time with his wife and 2 daughters and his dog Jack. He loves the outdoors of Utah and enjoys playing golf, snow skiing and hiking.

SENIOR PROJECT ARCHITECT
Josh Felix
Josh is a key member of the BGW leadership team and has nearly two decades of project management and design development experience. As a licensed architect and Senior Project Manager, he leads our construction documents and administration team, overseeing 8 staff architects as well as project managers and drafters.
Josh has completed nearly 100 construction document packages for BGW church and Christian school clients, managing the entire design integration process, from foundation consultants to acousticians. He is well versed in building code, planning and entitlement, structural integration, intensive remodel and building reuse, accessible design and developing creative solutions to complex design problems. Josh also has extensive experience working with ministries through the preliminary design phase, having completed more than 35 design charettes.

SENIOR PROJECT ARCHITECT
David Tyson
David joined BGW in 2007 and earned his Bachelor’s and Master of Architecture Degrees from Judson University. He has been intimately involved in leading the preliminary design process with ministries all across the U.S. who have relied on BGW to capture their vision and achieve momentum as they start the building process. This role has given David a front-row seat to observe the national trends and culture of churches across the country. David is skilled at bridging the design gap of previous generations while merging progressive and relevant concepts that appeal to the millennial generation. He is registered with the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB).

SENIOR PROJECT ARCHITECT
Edward (Ned) Wright
Ned joined BGW in 2008 after earning his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Architecture from Judson University. In 2011, he earned his Master of Architecture Degree from The University of Utah. Since that time, Ned has managed projects all across the U.S., overseeing designers, job captains and drafters to generate AutoCAD based construction documents. As a result, he has developed a diverse expertise in managing projects through the final design and construction stages and working with difficult local ordinances, entitlements and permitting.

Cynthia Argyle
Cynthia joined BGW in 2008. As a licensed architect, she manages projects all across the U.S., overseeing designers and drafters throughout the development of construction documents and coordinating with local general contractors during the final design, permitting and construction stages. Cynthia has worked with ministry clients all across the country and has developed an expertise in coordinating with local municipalities to successfully complete projects.
Cynthia earned her Bachelor of Science and Master of Architecture Degrees from the University of Utah.

Adrian Ben
Adrian joined BGW in 1998 and is the longest tenured employee with the company. As a Project Manager on the Final Design Team, Adrian oversees designers and drafters throughout the development of construction documents and manages projects in coordination with local general contractors during the permitting and construction stages. Adrian has worked with ministry and school clients all across the country and has developed an expertise in managing projects with difficult local ordinances, entitlements and permitting.
Adrian and his wife Raichelle have 7 Children. He enjoys hunting, camping and gardening. He also serves as a volunteer teaching pastor at Alpine Church in Riverdale, UT.

PROJECT ARCHITECT
Brad Huizenga
Brad joined BGW in 2016, after earning his Masters Degree in Architecture from Judson University in Elgin, IL. He specializes in the production of construction documents and the management of projects throughout the permitting and construction stages. Brad’s passion is in finding creative ways of producing fun and unique spaces and well-functioning architectural details that serve the specific needs of the church. He has 10 years of experience in the field and became a licensed architect in 2017.
Brad grew up in the Chicagoland area and was fascinated with architecture from an early age. He previously worked for an architecture firm in Chicago that specialized in residential, light commercial, and restaurant design. He has a heart for orphans and disadvantaged people and he has worked (and continues to work) for non-profit organizations focused on ministering to these groups. Brad enjoys playing and watching sports and enjoying all of the outdoor recreation Utah has to offer with his wife Mary and their three children.

SENIOR PRELIMINARY DESIGNER
Austin Fredrickson
Austin has led more than 100 design charrettes for BGW Architects and has assisted more than 250 ministries through the preliminary design process. He is uniquely skilled in guiding church administrators and ministry team leaders through the conceptual design stages and translating their God-given vision into tangible architectural designs. Austin is a graduate of Judson University in Elgin, IL, the only evangelical Christian university in the U.S. to offer a fully accredited professional architecture degree program. He brings a unique perspective to church design as an experienced ministry leader that has been involved in many areas of church leadership. Over the years, he has served as a small group leader, worship team member, and in 2014 he was ordained as a pastor, serving on the church leadership team and participating in church planting.

ARCHITECT, CAD MANAGER
Casey Grimley
Casey joined BGW in 2004 as a drafter and in July 2021 he passed the Architect Registration Exam (ARE), becoming BGW’s newest licensed architect. He has an Associates Degree in Architectural Drafting from Ogden Weber Applied Tech College. His experience working on a wide range of projects and his drive to learn, coupled with a knack for computers, has led to him wearing several hats at BGW. In his core role as a Senior Drafter, Casey coordinates our architectural designs with consulting engineers. As CAD Manager, he keeps the staff up to date on the latest BIM software, technology, and drafting standards, and also provides training for other drafters and architects. In addition, Casey provides IT Support to the BGW office and helps keep everything running as smoothly as possible.
In his hours away from work his passions include photography, videography, and travel. He has been married since 2002 and has 3 kids, with which he enjoys going on adventures.

SENIOR DRAFTER
Joel Holder
Joel joined BGW in 2005 after earning his Associates Degree in Architectural Technology from Spokane Community College. He specializes in creating building models at the earliest stages of the construction documents phase. Coordinating our architectural designs with consulting engineers, Joel’s role is in translating design information and specifications from engineers into schematics and technical drawings for HVAC and plumbing systems. Joel has worked on ministry projects all across the country during his time at BGW, giving him a wealth of knowledge and expertise on BGW’s unique approach to these building systems.

Zak Thurn
Zak joined BGW in August of 2001 and is one of our longest tenured employees. He specializes in creating building models at the earliest stages of the construction documents phase. Zak also coordinates our architectural designs with consulting engineers, specifically structural steel.

Marvin Reyes
Marvin joined BGW in 2017 after receiving a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Architecture and a Master of Architecture Degree with a concentration in Sustainable Design from Judson University. As a member of the Construction Documents Team, Marvin specializes in creating plans, drawings, layouts and color boards, as well as coordinating the architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, civil, landscape, interior design, and other specialty areas of the project.
Marvin grew up in Mexico and still has family living there. He enjoys snowboarding in the winter and has recently taken up mountain bike racing during the warmer months. “The most gratifying experience is when you see the enjoyment of the church and the community’s involvement in the construction of the building. It lets you see how much a new facility can mean to them and how it will help grow the congregation”.

Kathryn Kilpatrick
Kathryn joined BGW in 2015 after earning her Master’s Degree in Architecture from Judson University in Elgin, IL. As a member of the Final Design Team, she specializes in design development, interior renderings, coordination of interior design and interior finishes, construction document development and project coordination.
Kathryn grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and moved to Utah after graduating college. An avid snow skier and hiker, Kathryn is also an experienced Irish Dancer and a big fan of her hometown Chicago Blackhawks.

Architectural Intern
Aaron Foster
Aaron joined BGW in 2020 after earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture and minor in Graphic Design from Judson University in Elgin, IL. He currently serves on the preliminary design team specializing in programing, planning, site and exterior design. Aaron also leads in the production of interior and exterior renderings and animations.
Born and raised in Central IL, he grew a passion for architecture through volunteer work with his church, Habitat for Humanity, and disaster relief organizations. In pursuit of architectural licensure, he hopes to use further education as a tool to better serve God’s people.
In his free time, Aaron serves on his church’s worship team, plays sports, and enjoys exploring the outdoors with his wife Anna.

Gregory Boyce
Gregory joined BGW Architects in 2024 as a Master’s Degree graduate of Judson University in Elgin, IL. He gained valuable experience as a draftsman for two architecture firms in Illinois during his time at Judson University. As a member of the Construction Documents Team, Gregory specializes in developing detailed building plans and coordinating the architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, civil, landscape, interior design, and other specialty areas of BGW projects. Gregory grew up in Arizona and attended Phoenix Christian Preparatory School, where he was an all-state baseball player for three consecutive years.
DRAFTER
JJ Becker
JJ joined BGW in 2017 as part of the Final Design / Construction Documents Team. His specialty is in creating 2D and 3D architectural models and detailing specific spaces in the building. He develops elevations, sections and plan details such as annotations, dimensions and finishes. In his free time, you can find JJ producing electronic music with his synthesizers, bouldering in the foothills of the Wasatch Front, or hanging out with his friends.
“My favorite part of my job is knowing that my work matters for God’s kingdom; that even in my cubicle I am somehow a part of the greater mission and calling – that once these buildings are completed, people will be coming together to seek and savor God in community, learning, and worship. Ziah Trammell
Ziah joined the BGW team in 2022 and is a recent graduate of Ogden Weber Technical College with a certificate in Architectural CAD. She is currently continuing her education at Weber State University to pursue a career in architecture. Ziah demonstrates a passion for the field and shows great determination and work ethic. In her spare time she enjoys being out in nature, painting and spending time with her family and dog Seorsia.
Drafter
Elisabeth Karen
Elisabeth joined the BGW team in 2024. She is currently attending Weber State University and is on track to receive her bachelors degree in Building Design and Construction in Spring 2025. As a drafter, Elisabeth creates 2D and 3D architectural models and details specific spaces in the building, developing elevations, sections and plan details. She has been married since 2018 and has a child. She loves hiking, paddle boarding, reading, traveling, but most of all spending time with her family. Her favorite scripture is “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” Philippians 4:13.

Ian Felix
Ian received his certification in Architectural Design from the Ogden-Weber Technical College. His goal is to continue to pursue a Bachelors Degree in Architecture at the University of Utah and then a Masters Degree at the University of Michigan. He enjoys working as a team with the BGW staff members that he practically grew up around. In his free time, Ian enjoys doing Sketch-Up and expanding his knowledge within the architectural world. He has a passion for anything in the coding realm, including python, javascript, and Xcode and he also loves gourmet cooking and stunt kite flying.
Project Coordinator
Roger McBrayer
Roger joined BGW in 2018, having previously served as a Procurement Supervisor and a journeyman machinist assigned to Air Force airframes such as the F-22, F-35, A-10, F-16, and C-130.This background provided a wealth of experience in manufacturing and engineering processes.
As a Project Coordinator for BGW, Roger is responsible for processing and tracking product submittals and RFI’s, assisting the Lead Architect / Project Manager. He previously served as a Project Manager for Cornerstone Building Supply from 2018 – 2023, where he was responsible for lighting and lighting control packages for many BGW projects. Roger enjoys spending time with his wife and 2 daughters. He has been a musician for 45 years and enjoys using his talents as a bass player at his local church on the worship team and for special events.
PROGRAM MANAGER
Scott Griffin
Scott joined BGW in 2002 and is one of the longest tenured employees at BGW. His primary role as Program Manager is to provide excellent customer service and he is typically the first person that churches communicate with when they call in or connect with BGW by email or through the web site. Scott has a servants heart and is adept at assessing a church’s needs, walking them through the unique benefits of the BGW Program, and connecting them with the appropriate resources or personnel. He works closely with BGW Builder partners around the country and provides sales support to their business development staff.
Scott and his wife Joy have been married for 35 years. He enjoys fly fishing, fly tying, golf, smoking meat and spending quality time with his wife, four children and three granddaughters.

Program Manager
John Workman
John joined BGW in 2003 and initially served as a project manager, but soon transitioned into the role of coordinating the Ministry of Construction program. John was instrumental in supporting and developing creative outreach opportunities on job sites all around the country, including feeding construction workers, providing free haircuts, washing their vehicles, writing encouraging notes and ‘holy graffiti’ on the steel beams, and much more.
From 2010 – 2016, John worked for a nationwide property management company managing federal government housing rentals and foreclosures for Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae. In December 2016, John returned to BGW to serve as Retail Sales Manager for Cornerstone Building Supply, specializing in seating, carpet tile, vinyl flooring, and play structures and equipment. In late 2021, John’s role expanded to assisting the BGW Business Development team as a Program Manager, providing customer service to prospective ministry clients.
John’s wife Susan and his adult children and grandchildren fill his life outside of BGW. He enjoys fishing and spending time in the mountains.
ACCOUNTING + HR
Ruth Kingston
Ruth joined BGW in 2001 and is one of the company’s longest tenured employees. She is responsible for bookkeeping and payroll processing, overseeing all accounts payable and receivable for BGW accounts. Ruth also serves as the coordinator for the company health care plan and manages other human resource activities. She attended Northern Arizona University and Mesa Community College and has 38 years of experience in accounting and payroll. In her free time, Ruth enjoys traveling with her loving husband and their 2 dogs.

MULTI-MEDIA DESIGNER
Meagan Johnson
Meagan joined BGW in 2016. She works in the marketing department and specializes in website design and graphic design material. She graduated cum laude from Weber State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business/Multimedia. She has a dog named Jazzy and loves to attend sporting events (especially the Utah Jazz). She also likes to travel, camp, swim, bowl and play pinochle.
