This campus expansion includes the addition of a gymnasium, a performing arts center and a preschool building.
The 16,000+ SF gymnasium is nearing completion of construction and will feature a hardwood court, a weight room, two locker rooms with brand new red and black lockers, a training room for athletes who need treatment, a snack bar, and a storage facility. The new gym, which will also be used for tournaments and physical education classes, has been some 20 years in the making. There will be capacity for around 250 people on each side of the bleachers and customization to the floor, allowing for multiple basketball and volleyball games to go on at once. Outside of the gym is a student and gym parking lot, and a full-sized outdoor cement basketball court.
“We will be able to use this gym facility for camps and pods of kids,” said Woodland Athletic Director Callie Wissmann. “Once we are back to 100 percent, this building will be used six days a week.”
Designs for the new gym began three years ago and the effort was funded entirely by donations and community fundraising. Construction started in October.
