ARCHITECT & PRESIDENT

Don Mahoney

Don has one of the most extensive backgrounds in worship and performing arts architecture in the U.S. He has designed prominent facilities all across the country throughout his 37 year career and has been recognized with a number of awards for innovative and creative church design, including multiple WFX Solomon Awards for Best Church Architect, Best Church Design, Best Special Project and Best Digital Church. Don is also a recipient of the Lutheran Church Extension Fund Arts & Architecture Award for Best Liturgical Design.

 

Don specializes in helping ministries to cast their vision during the very earliest stages of the project through creative master planning and preliminary design concepts. One of his passions and areas of expertise is performing arts design and he has led a number of marquee projects that involve high-level theatrical and performing arts components throughout his career. Don has always emphasized the importance of maintaining a solid design approach in all budget environments by taking advantage of the free tools of architecture such as scale, proportion, texture, color and form. He earned his Masters Degree in Architecture from the University of Utah in 1982 and formerly served as President of the American Institute of Architects for the State of Utah.

CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER / CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

Mike Mclntosh

Mike joined BGW in 2001 and is one of the longest tenured staff members. He oversees all daily business operations and finances for the company and provides leadership and oversight across all departments. A 12-year veteran of the United States Army, Mike studied business management and accounting at the University of Maryland and Weber State University. He serves as an overseer at Alpine Church in Riverdale UT and has led 21 missions trips to Uganda and Mexico. Mike enjoys spending time with his wife Juli and their family, which includes 2 daughters, 1 son and 8 grandchildren. He enjoys camping, golfing and fishing.

CHIEF MARKETING & BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT OFFICER

Derek Johnson

Derek joined BGW in 2009. He directs the organization’s strategic marketing & business development efforts to expand our reach to the church and Christian school market and works closely with regional BGW construction partners. Prior to joining BGW, Derek worked in the sports marketing industry for 12 years, developing corporate sponsorships for minor league sports organizations across the country and leading the marketing team for the National Association of Professional Baseball Leagues. He earned a bachelors degree in Business Management from Palm Beach Atlantic University and a Masters Degree in Sports Management / Marketing from the University of Florida.

 

Derek serves on the deacon board at Washington Heights Church and enjoys spending time with his wife and 2 daughters and his dog Jack. He loves the outdoors of Utah and enjoys playing golf, snow skiing and hiking.

ARCHITECT, PRELIMINARY DESIGN

David Tyson

David joined BGW in 2007 and earned his Bachelor and Master of Architecture Degrees from Judson University. He has been intimately involved in leading the preliminary design process with ministries all across the U.S. who have relied on BGW to capture their vision and achieve momentum as they start the building process. This role has given David a front row seat to observe the national trends and culture of churches across the country. David is skilled at bridging the design gap of previous generations while merging progressive and relevant concepts that appeal to the millennial generation. He is registered with the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB).

ARCHITECT, SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER

Josh Felix

Josh began working as an architectural team leader in 2001, bringing management skill, construction experience and strong design capabilities. As team lead for final design, he oversees project managers, job captains and drafters to generate AutoCAD based construction documents. Josh has worked on a wide range of ministry and school projects all across the U.S., resulting in a diverse expertise with difficult local ordinances, entitlements and permitting.

Rebecca Moeller

Rebecca joined BGW in 2015 after earning her Master of Architecture Degree from Judson University in Elgin, IL. As a member of the Final Design / Construction Documents Team, Rebecca assists in managing projects from the start of the construction document phase all the way through the completion of construction. Her specialty is in coming alongside ministry clients to discuss the intricate details of what the building will look like inside and out, and then translating those discussions into detailed design drawings. She especially enjoys the process of designing interior spaces, selecting final finishes and seeing a conceptual idea become a reality.

 

Rebecca and her husband enjoy experiencing God’s creation through hobbies like hiking, backpacking, rock climbing and ice climbing. She also enjoys touring through cities to see the works of human hands and the creativity of people and loves to capture nature and buildings through watercolor, drawings and photography. “I love using the gifts God has given me to shape the human environment. I love how God, the original architect, crafted so much beauty into this world. It’s so neat to work for a company where I get to play a part in shaping space for churches and schools that will affect people’s lives, their surrounding communities and the world”.

Brian Dixon

John Wetendorf

John joined BGW in 2005 and earned his Bachelor degree and Master of Architecture degree from Judson University. He specializes in multi-use and office building projects and has designed a broad range of projects for churches, credit unions and shared workspace facilities. John has a keen understanding of building codes and is adept at quickly and efficiently implementing the vision of ministry leaders and business professionals. He enjoys walking alongside clients and guiding them through the process from initial programming through project completion. He a licensed architect and holds a National Council of Architectural Registration Board Certificate (NCARB Certificate).
In his free time, John loves spending time with his family and being in the outdoors of Utah. An avid snow skier, he also enjoys landscaping and working outside.

Brad Huizenga

Brad joined BGW in 2016, after earning his Masters Degree in Architecture from Judson University in Elgin, IL. He specializes in the production of construction documents and the management of projects throughout the permitting and construction stages. Brad’s passion is in finding creative ways of producing fun and unique spaces and well-functioning architectural details that serve the specific needs of the church. He has 10 years of experience in the field and became a licensed architect in 2017.

 

Brad grew up in the Chicagoland area and was fascinated with architecture from an early age. He previously worked for an architecture firm in Chicago that specialized in residential, light commercial, and restaurant design. He has a heart for orphans and disadvantaged people and he has worked (and continues to work) for non-profit organizations focused on ministering to these groups. Brad enjoys playing and watching sports and enjoying all of the outdoor recreation Utah has to offer with his wife Mary and their three children.

ARCHITECTURAL ASSOCIATE, PRELIMINARY DESIGN

Austin Fredrickson

Austin joined BGW in 2008 as an architectural intern after earning his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Architecture from Judson University. In 2010, Austin earned his Masters Degree in Architecture from Judson University and since that time he has served as the lead designer and conducted preliminary design charrettes for ministries all across the U.S. His role is to collaborate with church administration and ministry team leaders and to translate the vision of the ministry into preliminary site plans, elevations, seating diagrams, exterior renderings and visual animations.

 

Austin has been deeply involved in his church since he moved to Utah in 2008. He was ordained as a pastor in February, 2014. Since then he has been involved in preaching, teaching, and church planting.

INTERIOR DESIGNER

Stacia Stuart

Stacia was brought onto the BGW staff in 2017 to fill the crucial role of supporting our architecture team, our builder partners and our clients with her interior design expertise. Stacia’s passion for exploring new spaces and her intrinsic creativity fuse into a powerful skill set that has brought a fresh perspective to BGW designs. With her eye for detail, she brings a unique stylistic flair to every project. Including Stacia in the design process has helped our partner contractors and clients see the big picture at an earlier stage, which translates to less field changes and construction schedule conflicts.

 

Originally from Virginia, Stacia came out West to study Interior Design, receiving her Bachelor of Science degree from Utah State University. She brings a wealth of experience in a variety of areas, including commercial, residential, healthcare, corporate, and remodeling projects. During free time, Stacia enjoys spending time with her family, exploring new places, home improvement projects, swimming, volunteering in kids programs at church, photography, and roller coasters.

ARCHITECTURAL ASSOCIATE

Kathryn Husar

Kathryn joined BGW in 2015 after earning her Master’s Degree in Architecture from Judson University in Elgin, IL. As a member of the Final Design Team, she specializes in design development, interior renderings, coordination of interior design and interior finishes, construction document development and project coordination.

 

Kathryn grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and moved to Utah after graduating college. An avid snow skier and hiker, Kathryn is also an experienced Irish Dancer and a big fan of her hometown Chicago Blackhawks.

ARCHITECTURAL ASSOCIATE

Marvin Reyes

Marvin joined BGW in 2017 after receiving a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Architecture and a Master of Architecture Degree with a concentration in Sustainable Design from Judson University. As a member of the Construction Documents Team, Marvin specializes in creating plans, drawings, layouts and color boards, as well as coordinating the architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, civil, landscape, interior design, and other specialty areas of the project.

 

Marvin grew up in Mexico and still has family living there. He enjoys snowboarding in the winter and has recently taken up mountain bike racing during the warmer months. “The most gratifying experience is when you see the enjoyment of the church and the community’s involvement in the construction of the building. It lets you see how much a new facility can mean to them and how it will help grow the congregation”.
ARCHITECTURAL INTERN

Jonathan Tiedemann

Jonathan joined BGW in 2017 as an intern after earning his bachelors degree in Architecture from Judson University in Elgin, IL. As a member of the Preliminary Design Team, Jonathan specializes in creating 2D and 3D renderings and animations that can help ministries cast a clear vision for their future facilities. Jonathan is an outdoor enthusiast and enjoys rock climbing, snow skiing and photography.

SENIOR DRAFTER + CAD MANAGER

Casey Grimley

Casey joined BGW in 2004 as a drafter. He has an Associates Degree in Architectural Drafting from Ogden Weber Applied Tech College. His experience working on a wide range of projects and his drive to learn, coupled with a knack for computers, has led to him wearing several hats at BGW. In his core role as a Senior Drafter, Casey coordinates our architectural designs with consulting engineers. As CAD Manager, he keeps the staff up to date on the latest BIM software, technology, and drafting standards, and also provides training for other drafters and architects. In addition, Casey provides IT Support to the BGW office and helps keep everything running as smoothly as possible.

 

In his hours away from work his passions include photography, videography, and travel. He has been married since 2002 and has 3 kids, with which he enjoys going on adventures.

SENIOR DRAFTER

Zach Thurn

Zak joined BGW in August of 2001 and is one of our longest tenured employees. He specializes in creating building models at the earliest stages of the construction documents phase. Zak also coordinates our architectural designs with consulting engineers, specifically structural steel.

ELECTRICAL DRAFTER

Johnnie Canova

Johnnie joined BGW in 2015. His specialty is in preparing technical drawings of electrical wiring systems. He analyzes information provided by the BGW architecture team as well as electrical engineers and illustrates visual instructions that relate technical specifications, including dimensions, arrangements and installation procedures. Johnnie has an Associates Degree in Applied Science from Weber State University.

SENIOR MECHANICAL DRAFTER

Joel Holder

Joel joined BGW in 2005 after earning his Associates Degree in Architectural Technology from Spokane Community College. As a mechanical & plumbing drafter, his role is in translating design information and specifications from engineers into schematics and technical drawings for HVAC and plumbing systems. Joel has worked on ministry projects all across the country during his time at BGW, giving him a wealth of knowledge and expertise on BGW’s unique approach to these building systems.

DRAFTER

JJ Becker

JJ joined BGW in 2017 as part of the Final Design / Construction Documents Team. His specialty is in creating 2D and 3D architectural models and detailing specific spaces in the building. He develops elevations, sections and plan details such as annotations, dimensions and finishes. In his free time, you can find JJ producing electronic music with his synthesizers, bouldering in the foothills of the Wasatch Front, or hanging out with his friends.

 

“My favorite part of my job is knowing that my work matters for God’s kingdom; that even in my cubicle I am somehow a part of the greater mission and calling – that once these buildings are completed, people will be coming together to seek and savor God in community, learning, and worship. I am happy to be part of the process to design buildings for God’s church to congregate.”

CONSTRUCTION ADMINISTRATION

Mark Kopp

Mark joined BGW in 2013 after previously serving as Chief Facilities Management Officer for Bob Jones University (BJU), where he was on staff since 1996. During his tenure at BJU, Mark oversaw the construction of Davis Field House, an 88,000 sf athletic facility, working closely with the BGW Design team to reduce construction costs by more than $4 million from local estimates.

Mark has more than 40 years of experience in construction and is a valuable asset to the BGW Construction Documents team, providing expert oversight in the areas of project management and construction administration. He has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Construction Technology and an AAS in Architectural Technology from Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis.

Mark and his wife are first generation Christians. After he was saved, his brother and his parents also came to a personal relationship with the Lord. His children are now followers of Christ and two of his sons serve as pastors in Utah. Mark enjoys snow skiing and golf and is a big sports fan of several MLB, NFL, and NBA teams.

Ned Wright

Ned joined BGW in 2008 after earning his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Architecture from Judson University. In 2011, he earned his Master of Architecture Degree from The University of Utah. Since that time, Ned has managed projects all across the U.S., overseeing designers, job captains and drafters to generate AutoCAD based construction documents. As a result, he has developed a diverse expertise in managing projects through the final design and construction stages and working with difficult local ordinances, entitlements and permitting.

Cynthia Argyle

Cynthia joined BGW in 2008. As a licensed architect, she manages projects all across the U.S., overseeing designers and drafters throughout the development of construction documents and coordinating with local general contractors during the final design, permitting and construction stages. Cynthia has worked with ministry clients all across the country and has developed an expertise in coordinating with local municipalities to successfully complete projects.

 

Cynthia earned her Bachelor of Science and Master of Architecture Degrees from the University of Utah.

Adrian Ben

Adrian joined BGW in 1998 and is the longest tenured employee with the company. As a Project Manager on the Final Design Team, Adrian oversees designers and drafters throughout the development of construction documents and manages projects in coordination with local general contractors during the permitting and construction stages. Adrian has worked with ministry and school clients all across the country and has developed an expertise in managing projects with difficult local ordinances, entitlements and permitting.

Adrian and his wife Raichelle have 7 Children. He enjoys hunting, camping and gardening. He also serves as a volunteer teaching pastor at Alpine Church in Riverdale, UT.

ACCOUNTING + HR

Ruth Kingston

Ruth joined BGW in 2001 and is one of the company’s longest tenured employees. She is responsible for bookkeeping and payroll processing, overseeing all accounts payable and receivable for BGW accounts. Ruth also serves as the coordinator for the company health care plan and manages other human resource activities. She attended Northern Arizona University and Mesa Community College and has 38 years of experience in accounting and payroll. In her free time, Ruth enjoys traveling with her loving husband and their 2 dogs.

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSITANT

Anita Wood

Anita just recently joined the BGW team bringing with her over 25 years of experience in administrative support and office management; and more recently as an assistant editor working for a local publishing company, managing cookbook projects and contracts administration. Anita is also a published author of over 10 children’s doodle and activity books, and several inspirational-humor gift books.

In her free time, Anita relaxes by creating one-of-a-kind pieces of “art” from paper crafting and mixed-media, to reimagining ways to reuse vintage and antique collectibles. Her happy place is spending time with her son, daughter, son-in-law, grand-pup, and closest friends; discovering “new old” places like ghost towns, national and state parks, or hidden gems just off the beaten path. She loves viewing the world through a camera lens, capturing and sharing the little details that are often overlooked in favor of the bigger picture.

PROGRAM MANAGER

Scott Griffin

Scott joined BGW in 2002 and is one of the longest tenured employees at BGW. His primary role as Program Manager is to provide excellent customer service and he is typically the first person that churches communicate with when they call in or connect with BGW by email or through the web site. Scott has a servants heart and is adept at assessing a church’s needs, walking them through the unique benefits of the BGW Program, and connecting them with the appropriate resources or personnel. He works closely with BGW Builder partners around the country and provides sales support to their business development staff.

Scott and his wife Joy have been married for 35 years. He enjoys fly fishing, fly tying, golf, smoking meat and spending quality time with his wife, four children and three granddaughters.

MULTI-MEDIA DESIGNER

Meagan Johnson

Meagan joined BGW in 2016. She works in the marketing department and specializes in website design and graphic design material. She graduated cum laude from Weber State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business/Multimedia. She has a dog named Jazzy and loves to attend sporting events (especially the Utah Jazz). She also likes to travel, camp, swim, bowl and play pinochle.

NATIONAL SEMINAR REGISTRAR

Donna Cullen

Donna joined the BGW Team in 2006 after serving her church as a co-director of Communications for both a capital campaign and BGW building project.

 

After participating in BGW’s “Ministry of Construction” program, she experienced first-hand the joy of joining her church in writing scripture on the foundation of the new Community Life Center structure, and ministering to the on-site construction workers by preparing lunches and other appreciation efforts.  Through this experience she sought to be involved with BGW to serve the greater church.

 

In her work with BGW, she has assisted pastors and church leaders involved in capital campaign efforts for 8 years and has served as BGW’s National Seminar Registrar for the past 5 years.

 

Her favorite scripture changes minute-by-minute, as she keeps rooted in worship, weekly bible studies and experiencing the Living Word.
